About The Shepherd’s Rest Inn
Historic Country Pub in Todmorden, West Yorkshire
Perched in the scenic hills above Todmorden, The Shepherd’s Rest Inn is a historic country pub and restaurant with stunning views over the Calder Valley and direct sight of the iconic Stoodley Pike. Originally built as a farmhouse in the 1700s, it became a licensed venue in 1859 and has since evolved into one of West Yorkshire’s most loved pubs – known for its warm hospitality, character, and homemade food.
Inside, you’ll find original stone walls, open fires, and large picture windows, creating a cosy and inviting space with unbeatable views. We’ve built a loyal following for our homemade proper pies, traditional Sunday Roasts, hearty sharing boards, and seasonal dishes – all served with locally sourced ales, craft beers, and expertly poured drinks.
Outdoors, guests can relax in our sunken front courtyard or enjoy our spacious beer garden to the rear. We’re proud to be a family-friendly and dog-friendly pub, with a secure children’s play area and ample parking for easy access.
For something extra special, visit The Shepherd’s Hut – our weekend outdoor kitchen, open from 9am serving breakfast baps, fresh coffee, hand-stretched sourdough pizzas, and more. It’s the perfect spot to start or end your walk in the South Pennines.
Whether you're visiting for a meal, drinks with friends, or a countryside escape, The Shepherd’s Rest Inn in Todmorden offers the ideal blend of heritage, flavour, and Yorkshire warmth.
